Juhayna Lango: Dreams and Determination for Uzbek Cinema

Afro-Uzbek model Juhayna Lango recently appeared as a guest on the “Omon-omon” program, openly discussing her life, family, and dreams. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She spoke about her childhood, interesting stories from her parents' lives, and her interest in Uzbek cinema. According to Juhayna, although she was born in Oman, she does not belong to the Arab ethnicity.
Although her name is Arabic, her father is Nigerian, and her mother is from the Bukhara Uzbek-Tatar ethnicity. “I never change how I say my name; only my grandmother calls me Juju,” she says.
According to the model, her father came to Tashkent as a legionnaire and fell in love with her mother. Their love continued despite opposition from relatives.
Currently, Juhayna has almost no contact with her father. “I have spoken to him on the phone, but I have never seen him in person,” she says.
Juhayna grew up in Navoi and spent her summer vacations in Bukhara. Although she studied at a Russian school, she proudly says she received an “A” grade in Uzbek.
She can speak Uzbek, Russian, English, and Turkish fluently, and also knows some Tajik. The model also openly shared her attitude towards national clothing.
“Since childhood, I have been dark-skinned. When I wear national clothes, some people misunderstand me and think I am a gypsy,” she says.
For this reason, she admitted that she wears national costumes rarely. Another big dream of Juhayna is to act in Uzbek films.
She enrolled at the Foreign Languages University in Samarkand but had to pause her studies during quarantine to work. Nevertheless, she firmly says, “One day I will definitely get my diploma.”
She was offered to participate in the “African Bride” project, but the timing did not work out. Juhayna is gaining attention as a unique personality who interests many with her life and activities.
