Jahongir Otajonov expressed his opinion on the introduction of taxes for artists
Singer Jahongir Otajonov expressed his views on the introduction of taxes for artists, relations with "Uzbekkonsert," and mandatory services. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He said he agreed to pay taxes and emphasized that he has no difficulty giving money to the state. He stated that time will show when and how the tax will be paid, but if possible, he is ready to pay it willingly because he emphasized that these funds go for the benefit of the country.
According to Jahongir Otajonov, what is important is what the role of "Uzbekkonsert" is after paying the tax. He asked whether it is possible to sever ties with this organization as an independent creator or not.
Previously, activities were conducted based on a license, but now he is thinking about whether it is possible to get rid of "Uzbekkonsert" by becoming a taxpayer. Because as a musician, he mentioned that sometimes the activities of this organization might hinder him.
For this reason, he wants his rights to be fully protected. He also recalled that currently he is not involved in mandatory work, but previously there were cases of license revocation due to not attending weddings.
This still causes him to feel worried, wondering "what else will they say?" The singer said he is satisfied with his life and is ready to give part of his income as tax.
However, he emphasized that no one should disturb him in this, and he should be independent as a taxpayer. He stated that he should be paid according to his work and can go to provide services.
As an example, he explained that if 200 million soms are spent on a wedding, it makes sense to pay tax on the net profit remaining after accounting for expenses and service fees. He emphasized that it is wrong to both go for free and pay tax.
He gave the example that world stars face criminal liability if they do not pay taxes, but no one disturbs them. He wants to be left alone by "Uzbekkonsert," not forced, and to take his own money and provide services.
He said he has the same view regarding Navruz events, emphasizing that he serves the people but these works should not be done for free. He said that through this, we all bring bread to our families, and if everything is free, then we all would have to serve each other for free.
