Uzbekistan Introduces Cashback System for Foreign Filmmakers at Cannes Film Market

The delegation of Uzbekistan presented new opportunities in the country's film industry at a major film market held as part of the prestigious international film festival in Cannes, France. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the event, a twenty-five percent cashback for foreign filmmakers and special programs aimed at promoting the country on a global scale were announced for the first time. According to this system, if foreign producers and film companies conduct filming within the territory of Uzbekistan, a portion of the funds spent will be reimbursed by the state.
These incentives and the created favorable conditions are sparking great interest among the world's leading film companies and renowned producers. In particular, French director Quentin Closan announced plans to film a feature film in the fantasy genre amidst the unique natural landscapes of the Surxondaryo region.
At the same time, Italian creators expressed their intention to produce a documentary for the famous Amazon Prime platform in the Boybuloq cave, considered one of the deepest caves in the world. During the negotiations, British and Japanese specialists also emphasized their readiness to implement new projects encompassing Uzbekistan's historical cities and its modern appearance.
Representatives of the Uzbek delegation also met with representatives of platforms such as Variety and Deadline Hollywood, which are considered prestigious publications of the global film industry, to discuss future cooperation. According to industry experts, such economic incentive measures will serve not only to develop the art of cinema but also to increase the flow of tourists to the country.
The showcasing of Uzbekistan's remarkable sites on screens worldwide through film tourism will further enhance the country's prestige in the international arena. Such projects also open doors for local specialists to exchange experience and master new technologies.
