President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during a meeting in Khorezm region that an important agreement has been reached to widely implement rain irrigation technology in collaboration with Austria's renowned "Bauer" company.
According to him, as a result of initially testing this modern technology on 2,500 hectares of land belonging to 24 farmers in our country, water consumption has decreased by 40 percent, the use of mineral fertilizers by 35 percent, and manual labor costs by 90 percent. Additionally, an average increase of 25 percent in yield has been observed.
After this pilot project has fully proven its effectiveness, it is now planned to widely implement this technology on a large scale — on 7,500 hectares of land in Khorezm.
Within the framework of this project, modern rain irrigation equipment worth a total of 15 million euros will be supplied to farmers. These devices will be provided on a leasing basis, in national currency, at a very favorable rate of 2.5 percent annually for a period of 10 years.
The Austrian side is also providing a 10-year warranty for its high-quality equipment. At the same time, company experts will organize free training courses for local farmers and specialists to ensure proper use of this equipment.
During the meeting, the President instructed the responsible officials to implement a project worth 2 million euros on an area of 1,500 hectares as a pilot this year, and to increase this figure to 7,500 hectares starting from 2025.
According to experts, this technology not only saves water and mineral fertilizers but also helps maintain soil fertility and further increase productivity. This will significantly enhance the economic efficiency of local farms, conserve natural resources, and positively impact environmental protection.
