Solar and wind energy production in Uzbekistan has sharply increased

The importance of renewable energy sources in the territory of Uzbekistan is growing day by day. Zamin.uz reports on this.
As a result of major projects implemented in the energy sector and the introduction of modern technologies, the volume of clean energy obtained from solar and wind power plants has increased sharply. According to recent data from the Ministry of Energy, in February of this year, the amount of electricity generated by solar and wind power plants in our country increased nearly twofold compared to the same period last year, reaching 203 percent.
This indicator demonstrates that the deep reforms being carried out in the sector and the commissioning of new capacities are bearing fruit. Based on official reports, large-scale solar photovoltaic plants generated a total of 371 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in February.
At the same time, wind power plants generated 444 million kilowatt-hours of energy. As a result, the total production volume from both sources reached 815 million kilowatt-hours.
It is noted that this figure is 413 million kilowatt-hours higher than in the corresponding period of last year. Experts explain such high growth with the commissioning of new modern plants, the expansion of existing capacities, and increased attention to renewable energy sources.
For comparison, it should be noted that in February 2025, solar and wind power plants across the country generated a total of 401 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. During that period, solar photovoltaic plants provided 265 million and wind power plants 136 million kilowatt-hours of energy.
According to experts, the current high indicators clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategy adopted for developing the green energy sector in Uzbekistan. Energy obtained thanks to solar and wind power not only stabilizes the country's electricity supply but also makes a significant contribution to reducing harmful emissions into the environment.
In the coming years, it is planned to commission a number of additional large-capacity solar and wind power plants in our country, which will create conditions for further increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the national energy system.
