The reason why flowers are planted in the garden has become clear

Of course, you don’t want pests to destroy your garden during the harvest season. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare in advance to protect the crops. So, what plants can be planted in such cases?
According to gardener and landscape designer Olga Voronova, flowers and medicinal plants can serve as excellent "guards" for your harvest. For example, marigolds, nasturtiums, and calendulas repel insects.
Different plants can be planted with various crops. Marigolds fight against cabbage beetles, so it is recommended to plant them next to cabbage. Black beans do not attract Colorado beetles to potatoes, while nasturtium protects crops from harmful fungi.
“These three classic flowers are 100 percent effective,” says the expert.
Additionally, rosemary, monarda, and other fragrant medicinal plants can also be good neighbors for garden crops. The pleasant scent they emit protects the plants from insects. Pollin also has the same effect, but it doesn’t have to be found growing naturally; it can also be specially planted in the garden.
To place all the plants beautifully and wisely, Olga Voronova recommends planning a separate area for flowers and medicinal plants in advance.
“I usually leave a little space when sowing seeds and then plant the necessary flowers in them,” said the gardener in a comment to “MIR 24”.
There is another added benefit of planting vegetables that are beneficial for food alongside flowers: as a result, it creates not just an ordinary garden, but a beautiful and designer-style harvest.
