During extensive inspections conducted to ensure the seismic safety of objects being constructed in the territory of Uzbekistan, serious violations were identified at 396 construction sites. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This information was jointly announced by the General Prosecutor's Office and the Construction Supervision Inspectorate. The main purpose of the inspections is to ensure the earthquake resistance of multi-storey buildings.
The identified cases have led to serious legal actions. Lawsuits have been filed against more than 200 objects that seriously violate construction regulations, demanding their complete demolition.
More than 100 illegal and dangerous buildings have already been demolished. Criminal cases have been initiated for the 40 most serious cases, and all identified violations have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
Against this background, the Ministry of Construction and Communal Services firmly denied rumors about corruption within the system. Ministry representatives emphasized that active work is being carried out to digitize public services.
In particular, digital platforms such as "Transparent Construction" reduce human factors and prevent corruption, unjustified refusals, or excessive payments demanded from builders. These inspections and measures aim to increase public and government attention to safety issues in the construction sector.
These issues are especially relevant in Uzbekistan, where seismic activity is high. Since 2021, the law "On Ensuring the Seismic Safety of the Population and Territories" has been in effect in Uzbekistan, categorizing all buildings into four hazard categories and establishing state policy to ensure seismic resistance.
