
Illegal transportation of gold jewelry from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan was prevented, the State Security Service press office reports. This was reported by Upl.uz.
A special rapid operation was conducted in cooperation between the State Security Service officers and representatives of the regional customs department. During the operation, a person born in 1987 residing in Fergana district and his accomplice were detained; they were citizens of Kyrgyzstan attempting to smuggle gold jewelry into Uzbekistan.
It was revealed that the gold items were illegally transported across the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan border. It was established that these smuggled goods were intended for a person born in 1997 living in Jalolquduq district of Andijan region.
This person was also arrested in Fergana city while receiving the smuggled goods from the suppliers. A total of more than 5.7 kilograms of various gold jewelry items were confiscated.
According to preliminary estimates, their total value amounts to 5 billion 746 million soums. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident, and investigative actions are underway.
