Rubin's head coach Rashid Rahimov gave an interview to Match TV after the game against Ahmat. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He assessed the game as very difficult and tough. He noted that they were aware it would be like this before the match, considering that Ahmat had good players and they needed to coordinate with each other.
For this reason, he stated that this victory was very important. He talked about it being the first round and that there are many games ahead.
The coach confirmed that he expected a game like this from the opponent. He stated that they had also prepared for it.
However, after scoring goals, especially in the 20-25 minute range, the team slowed down the game, was coming out of defense slowly, and delaying the next passes, which led to technical errors. As a result, there were many lost balls in the second half of the first half.
During the break, necessary changes were made. They took into account that the Ahmat team would switch to attack and try to score.
For this reason, he emphasized that a good attack led to the second goal being scored. Recently, it has been important to play reliably in defense, and it was difficult for the opponent to break through this defense.
When asked if the quickly scored goal in the second half made the task much easier, Rashid Rahimov said that usually a 2:0 score is not an ease for the game but rather a burden. He added that after the goals were scored, he explained to the players the necessity to forget the result and continue the game.
For this reason, there were almost no dangerous situations at the team's goal.
