Kornyukhin: Zenit should reduce the number of legionnaires
Former Sankt-Petersburg “Zenit” goalkeeper Yevgeniy Kornyukhin expressed his opinion about foreign players. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, there shouldn't be too many legionnaires in the team. Some of them want to play, while others do not.
Simply coming in and signing a good contract is not enough, Kornyukhin says. The “Zenit” team has accumulated four points in the first two rounds of the Russian Premier League.
In the first round, they won against “Rostov” with a score of 2:1, and in the second round, they recorded a 2:2 draw with “Rubin.” This summer, “Zenit” purchased the expensive legionnaire Jerson Santos.
His transfer from “Flamengo” was valued at 25 million euros. According to Kornyukhin, the team should reduce the number of legionnaires and give more opportunities to local players.
