Kechinov: It is still early to say that Zabolotnin has strengthened

Former player of the "Spartak" team Valeriy Kechinov shared his thoughts on the team's participation in the new season in an interview with the online publication "Evro-Futbol.Ru". This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

He stated that Spartak's victory over Rostov cannot fully justify the defeat against Baltika. According to Kechinov, the team needs to play consistently and at a high level throughout the season, as the main goals are significant.

He emphasized that there should be no failures like the one in the game against Baltika. Commenting on Zabolotnin's performance, Kechinov positively assessed his assist and the penalty he earned.

However, he noted that it is still too early to say that this player has significantly strengthened the team. He pointed out that there was also a mistake by the goalkeeper in Zabolotnin's goal-scoring situation.

Nevertheless, he rated his actions in earning the penalty highly. Referring to Jedsong, who is being introduced as a new player to the team, Kechinov mentioned that he has not seen his game yet and therefore cannot express a definite opinion at this time.

He recalled that expensive players like Solari and Garcia had joined the team before, but they did not deliver the expected results. Kechinov emphasized that to place great hope on Jedsong, it is essential to first see his performance.

Evaluating the start of the new season, Kechinov stated that he expected a full result in the first three matches, but this did not happen. He particularly mentioned the defeat against Baltika and expressed hope that the team would show itself in the upcoming matches.

Additionally, Spartak recently extended the contract with Markinos until the summer of 2029. Kechinov considers this decision to be correct, as Markinos is one of the leaders of the team.
