Shatov: "Zenit" will reclaim the championship this year

Oleg Shatov, a former player of the “Zenit” football club, shared his thoughts on the team's recent performances and last season's championship win by “Krasnodar.” This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to Shatov, the fact that “Zenit” lost the championship does not indicate problems within the club. On the contrary, it shows that the rival team performed strongly.

He stated that “Zenit” did not play poorly; rather, “Krasnodar” performed at a very high level last season and was able to showcase their abilities. Shatov also emphasized that it is incorrect to talk about a crisis for a team that has won the championship twice a year.

He expressed confidence that “Zenit” will also become the champion this year. For reference, in the 2024/2025 season, “Krasnodar” became the Russian champion for the first time, thereby ending “Zenit”'s dominance over the past six years.

In the current season, “Zenit” is in seventh place in the competition standings after three rounds.
