The former head coach of St. Petersburg's "Zenit" football club, Vlastimil Petrjela, emphasized that even if the team consists mainly of Russian players, the results would not be poor. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the club needs to change its policy and provide more opportunities for local young players. This will not only help save the club's budget but also will not negatively impact the results.
Petrjela believes that focusing on young Russian players will also positively influence the development of the Russian national team. He stated that as local players gain more playing experience, the overall level of football in the country will rise.
For reference, in recent years, many foreign players have been playing in the "Zenit" squad. At the end of last season, the club did not win any trophies.
At the beginning of the current season, "Zenit" has only accumulated four points after four games. Therefore, the specialist is advising the club's management to show more trust in local players.
This approach could be beneficial for both the club and the country's football.
