“Villarreal” and “Barcelona” clubs requested permission to hold their upcoming match within La Liga in the USA in December. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In this regard, the Royal Spanish Football Federation appealed to UEFA and FIFA, asking them to consider the possibility of holding the match in Miami. The “Real Madrid” club expressed its stance on this initiative.
The Madrid club is opposing the holding of Spanish championship matches in other countries. Club representatives emphasized that such matches contradict the fundamental principles of the championship, particularly the rule that each team must play one match at home and one away.
According to them, this situation disrupts the competitive balance in the tournament and gives an unjustified advantage to “Barcelona” and “Villarreal” clubs. “Real Madrid” stated that all teams should have equal conditions.
The club warned that holding championship matches in another country is unacceptable and could lead to serious consequences in the future. Additionally, “Real Madrid” appealed to UEFA, FIFA, and the Spanish High Sports Council, requesting not to allow the championship match to be held in the USA.
The club reminded that in 2018, holding national league matches in other countries was strictly prohibited, with only exceptional cases being exempted.
