Art Shikhov: "After two games, we will determine the World Championship qualification"

The Uzbekistan national team will take the field today against the Kyrgyz Republic as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.

The next match will be held in Tehran against Iran. A victory in these two matches will bring our team very close to the World Cup. Ahead of these games, we were interested in the thoughts of former footballer San’at Shixov.

"I expect an attacking game from our national team first and foremost, as all our legionnaires are currently in their optimal form. I believe we can win in the upcoming two matches. We just need to keep our focus and not lose sight of our goal. God willing, after two games, we will secure the World Cup qualification.

In my opinion, we won’t see significant changes. However, the attacking play and ball control should improve. It is impossible to change something drastically in a short time. Minor details, set pieces, and movements from defense to attack can be adjusted. Almost all players have previously worked with Kapadze and know the coach's requirements well. The important thing is that all the guys are in shape right now. I believe everything will be fine. Our players will accomplish the task. Most importantly, the players who set the pace of the game are in their optimal condition. That alone should be enough," says San’at Shixov.
