CSKA's goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev explained why he is not dissatisfied with the lack of participation in European Cups. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that he has played enough in European competitions throughout his career. In particular, he said he has gained a lot of experience in Champions League matches.
According to Akinfeev, he has appeared in more than 140 matches in European Cups and considers himself fortunate in this regard. Additionally, CSKA reached the Champions League quarterfinals in the 2009-2010 season.
In those matches, they missed the opportunity against the Italian club Inter. Furthermore, in 2005, CSKA, with Akinfeev in the squad, won the UEFA Cup.
It is worth noting that since February 2022, Russian clubs and the national team have been banned from international competitions. For this reason, Akinfeev and his team are unable to participate in European Cups.
However, the goalkeeper expressed satisfaction with his previous experiences and hopes that new opportunities will arise in the future.
