Sergey Pesyakov, goalkeeper of the Samarkand club "Wings of the Soviets," shared his views on the restrictions imposed on foreign players in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Currently, a maximum of 13 foreign players can be registered for the season, and 8 of them can be on the field at the same time. According to Pesyakov, the current system works well and does not need to be changed.
He particularly emphasized the increasing number of young and talented players, including Batrakov, Kislyak, and Rakov. Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov previously set clear deadlines for reducing the number of foreign players, stating that starting from the 2028-2029 season, there should be 10 foreign players registered and 5 on the field.
Additionally, he proposed that clubs purchasing foreign players should allocate funds to the youth football development fund equivalent to their expenses. This measure aims to support young players and further develop national football.
Overall, the current restrictions help improve the quality of football, and it is expected that this policy will continue in the future.
