Two Turkish football players are accused of illegal betting

Two football players playing for Turkey's "Galatasaray" and "Fenerbahce" clubs are accused of violations and face the threat of imprisonment. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by euro-football.ru. It is known that "Galatasaray" footballer Metehan Baltaji and "Fenerbahce" captain Mert Hakan Yandash may face criminal liability in a scandal related to illegal betting.
If the charges against them are confirmed, Baltaji could face up to 13 years, and Yandash up to 17 years in prison. According to Turkey's "Sabah" newspaper, Metehan Baltaji placed bets on matches involving "Galatasaray" at least twice.
Although he did not play in the starting lineup in these matches, since he was on the team roster, situations were observed that could have influenced the match results. According to Turkish law, professional athletes must openly disclose their status when dealing with bookmakers.
However, it has been revealed that Baltaji did not comply with this rule. Therefore, legal measures against the football players are highly likely.
