Muhammad Salah: "Winning the Golden Ball is my biggest dream"
The Egyptian star and captain of Liverpool, Muhammad Salah, shared his thoughts on winning the prestigious football award, the Ballon d'Or. In an interview with France Football, the experienced player emphasized the goals he aims to achieve for the remainder of his career and his aspirations to win this award.
At the beginning of this season, while Liverpool was competing for four trophies at once, Muhammad Salah was considered one of the main candidates for the Ballon d'Or. However, after the team was eliminated from the Champions League, his chances for the individual award significantly decreased. Despite this situation, Salah expressed his sincere thoughts about his dreams:
“This is not in my hands, but I dream of winning the Ballon d'Or for my people and my country throughout my life. For a boy who grew up in a small village in Egypt, even dreaming of such an award is difficult. I only started to think seriously about it after moving to Liverpool. However, even if I do not achieve this award, I will be satisfied with my football career and consider it successful,” said the forward.
At the same time, Salah also mentioned his age-related circumstances and highlighted that there are still many opportunities ahead:
“I am currently 32 years old, and if we look at the recent Ballon d'Or winners, many of them achieved this award after turning thirty. So, I also have that opportunity. The next season will be even more interesting and important for us. We need to defend our Premier League title with Liverpool and fight for victory in the Champions League. Additionally, we will participate in the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup with the Egyptian national team. This gives me the chance to showcase myself even better,” Salah added.
