Mirjalol Qosimov: "The score is high, but this will be a great lesson for the 'Navoi Academy'"
The match between OKMK and "Navoiy FA" teams, which took place in the third round of the Uzbekistan Cup competition, ended with a large score. The match was held at the "OKMK" stadium in Almalyk and concluded with the hosts winning 12:1.
After the game, OKMK club head coach Mirjalol Qosimov participated in a press conference with journalists and shared his thoughts:
"Indeed, before today's match, the situation in the group was unclear, and any result could have occurred. Therefore, we took the field with almost all of our main players. However, we deemed it necessary to keep some of our leaders – Islam To‘xtaxo‘jayev, Xurshid G‘iyosov, and Datsi Kleyd in reserve for today's game. The purpose of this decision was to give our young players a chance and to prepare them mentally and physically for big games.
Since the game was on our home ground, we planned to give our fans a beautiful festive gift. The abundance of goals was also important for pleasing our fans and for our calculations in the final round of the group stage. In my opinion, we achieved our goal in this regard.
Of course, it is natural that this defeat is quite painful for our opponent "Navoiy FA." However, I would ask the young and talented players of the opposing team not to lose heart and to remain mentally strong. Yes, the score was large, but this will be the first step and an important lesson for these young players for the future. They will grow stronger and more experienced in big football through such games.
At a time when great opportunities are being created for youth and academies in Uzbekistan football, they need to fully utilize these opportunities and continue to work on their skills. I believe this game will serve as a good experience school for the young guys in the "Navoiy FA" team," concluded Mirjalol Qosimov.
