Jo Kent opposed the Tramp policy

Joe Kent, former director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, is attracting wide public attention not only with his resignation but also with his personal views and activities. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He is known as the first official to oppose the military policy related to Iran in the Trump administration, thus becoming one of the few officials openly criticizing the current political direction. Kent's political career has been complex and multifaceted.
He previously attempted to be elected to Congress twice, but both attempts ended unsuccessfully. Nevertheless, in July 2024, he was confirmed as the head of the National Counterterrorism Center by a narrow margin.
During the nomination process, a number of controversies arose. Some Democrats accused Kent of connections with extremist groups, including members of the Proud Boys organization.
He also did not retract his controversial views regarding the January 6 events and the 2020 elections. Joe Kent is also distinguished by his military experience.
He served 11 foreign deployments in the US armed forces, including service in special forces in Iraq. This experience helped him develop deep knowledge and practical skills in the security field.
The National Counterterrorism Center is considered one of the most important security agencies in the US. It unites personnel from the Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pentagon, and Department of Homeland Security.
This agency operates under the leadership of the US Director of National Intelligence, Talsi Gabbard, and Kent was one of the main advisors there. Interestingly, there was no single opinion on Iran-related policy in the Donald Trump administration.
Conflicts between different views were observed. While Trump showed a firm position publicly, in some internal discussions he called for caution.
There were also certain disagreements with Vice President Jay Di Vance on this matter. Joe Kent demonstrated his independent position specifically on this issue.
He emphasized that more attention should be paid to US domestic problems instead of engaging in new wars. In this regard, his resignation is assessed not only as a personal decision but also as an important event reflecting the diversity of opinions within the US political elite.
