Abbosbek Fayzullayev is close to his first trophy in the SSKA: The success of the Uzbek legionnaire in the "rhombus" style!
The Uzbek talent showing himself in Russian football, young and skilled player Abbosbek Fayzullayev, is having a special and memorable season in 2024/25. Our compatriot, who moved from "Pakhtakor" to the Moscow club CSKA, is on the verge of winning his first major trophy as a legionnaire.
In the first part of the new season, the "army men," who could not achieve the desired results, appointed Serbian coach Marko Nikolich as head coach in December. During the winter break, Nikolich radically changed the team's playing style. In particular, the club switched to a tactically complex and active "romb" scheme.
In this tactical change, the main responsibility fell on Abbosbek Fayzullayev. Previously seen more as a wing forward, the young Uzbek player is now performing multiple tasks simultaneously, including organizing attacks and assisting in defense in the center of the field. This role requires physical endurance and high work capacity.
Marko Nikolich explained the reason for assigning this important and complex task to Abbosbek by noting that our compatriot achieved the highest scores in special tests. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the experienced Serbian coach's choice fully justified itself.
Indeed, the changes in the new scheme quickly began to have a positive impact on the team's results. CSKA, which finished the first part of the championship in sixth place, showed high efficiency in the next phase and has not known defeat for thirteen consecutive matches. As a result of this successful series, the team secured a place in the top three. Since March, the Muscovites have achieved seven victories and three draws.
Additionally, CSKA is also achieving high results in the Russian Cup. In the battle for a place in the Superfinal, the current champion and cup holder "Zenit" posed a challenge to the Muscovites. Despite losing the first match 0:2, in the return match, CSKA players demonstrated high skill and determination, defeating their opponents by the same score. Luck was also on CSKA's side in the penalty shootout, thus the team managed to reach the Superfinal.
After the match, Abbosbek Fayzullayev shared his thoughts about today's game in a conversation with journalists.
“Many consider today's game to be CSKA's strongest performance of the season. Yes, I agree with this opinion. But I think we will show our best game of the season in the Superfinal. Words fail to describe such an atmosphere,” said Abbosbek.
At the same time, Abbosbek expressed special gratitude to his fans, emphasizing that their support and trust give the team great strength.
The young Uzbek legionnaire has played in 36 matches in the Russian championship and cup this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 7 assists. Of course, after switching to a new position, a slight decline in his personal statistics was observed, but head coach Nikolich states that this situation is temporary, and once Abbosbek fully adapts to his new role, his goals and assists will significantly increase.
The decisive Superfinal of the Russian Cup will take place on June 1 at the legendary "Luzhniki" stadium in Moscow. CSKA players will face the winner of the second semifinal match between "Rostov" and "Spartak."
