Javohir Sindorov further consolidated his lead in the Candidates Tournament

Uzbek chess star Javokhir Sindarov spoke in detail about his thoughts and his status in the competition during a press conference held after the tenth round of the Candidates Tournament. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Uzbek grandmaster played with the white pieces in this round and defeated the young Indian talent Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa. With this victory, he increased his total points to over eight, further strengthening his lead in the tournament standings.
Currently, Sindarov's closest pursuer is Anish Giri of the Netherlands, and the gap between them is two points. Given that the number of remaining rounds is decreasing, overcoming this lead is considered a practically very difficult task.
At the same time, Sindarov has recorded a historic result in this tournament. He has become the participant with the most victories within the framework of the Candidates Tournament.
Until now, no chess player had achieved six victories, and Sindarov has surpassed this figure, setting a new tournament record. At the press conference, he openly admitted that he made a mistake at the beginning of the game against his Indian opponent.
According to him, at one moment he deviated from his preparation and made the wrong decision instead of the right move. However, he noted that he quickly pulled himself together and regained control of the situation.
According to the One.uz website, the young chess player emphasized that he took a big risk to seize the initiative during the game by sacrificing one of his pieces. It was this decision that helped him gain an advantage in the endgame and create a better position against the opponent's two rooks.
Sindarov did not hide the fact that he feels close to victory in the tournament, but reminded that there are still important tests ahead. He said that the next two games must be played with the black pieces, so he is focusing only on the game without thinking too much about the result.
He also recalled losing a promising position against German grandmaster Matthias Bluebaum in the previous round, emphasizing that his coach's advice played a very important role in restoring his mental stability. Our chess player, who considered a +1 result satisfactory at the beginning of the tournament, is now setting even higher goals for himself.
