Sam Kerr signs with Gotham FC through 2030

One of the brightest stars in women's football, Australian striker Sam Kerr has opened a new chapter in her career, Zamin.uz reports.
The experienced forward, who parted ways with Chelsea in England, has signed a long-term contract with Gotham FC, the reigning champions of the United States. This transfer is being regarded as one of the most significant deals in the women's football market.
According to Goal.com, the club's official sources confirm that Sam Kerr has signed a deal with Gotham FC running until 2030.
This agreement marks her return to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in the United States. It is worth noting that Kerr previously played for Sky Blue FC — the former name of Gotham FC — for three seasons.
Her six-year stint at Chelsea was highly successful. During her time in London, Sam Kerr became a true legend at the club, winning the Women's Super League title five times and earning the Golden Boot as the league's top scorer on two occasions.
She also added six domestic cup trophies to her collection. Gotham FC president Yael Averbuch West described Kerr as one of the strongest players of her generation.
Her winning mentality and ability to change the course of a game in an instant are expected to open new horizons for the team. Sam Kerr will join her new side once her international transfer certificate is finalized, expected in July.
It is worth mentioning that Sam Kerr is the only player in NWSL history to have been named the league's best player twice. However, due to a serious injury sustained in 2024, she was unable to play for an extended period, which prevented her from meeting the criteria for the league's high-impact player designation.
Despite this, Gotham FC was able to sign her using specially allocated funds. I'm incredibly excited to be rejoining Gotham FC and returning to this city.
This club has played an important role in my career. The team's ambitions are very high right now, and I want to contribute to new successes, Kerr emphasized in her official statement.
Gotham FC expanded its financial capabilities to make this transfer possible. Specifically, the club raised additional funds by selling defender Lilly Reale to Boston Legacy FC for $350,000.
Now, the team aims to defend its championship title alongside Sam Kerr.
