Manchester City sell a number of players to refresh the squad

Manchester City Football Club is expected to enter a new era under Pep Guardiola, marked by significant changes. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The club’s new head coach, Enzo Maresca, and sporting director, Hugo Viana, have decided to thoroughly reassess the current squad. They have indicated their readiness to evaluate offers for several senior and young players.
The English club may not only sign new talents but also part ways with several players to strengthen internal competition and streamline the wage bill. The club’s leadership officially confirmed on June 29 that Enzo Maresca has been appointed as head coach.
A five-year contract has been signed with the Italian specialist, running until the summer of 2029. Manchester City are willing to pay a compensation fee of £17 million to Chelsea to release Maresca from his contract.
This marks Maresca’s third return to the club. He previously worked in the academy and later served as an assistant to Guardiola during historic triumphs.
In his interview, the new head coach emphasized his deep understanding of the club’s demands and his enjoyment of working under pressure. According to reports from The Athletic, up to seven players are expected to depart during the summer transfer window.
Among them are Nathan Aké, Rico Lewis, Tijjani Reijnders, Omar Marmoush, Mateo Kovačić, Nicolás González, and James Trafford. The future of each player at the club is being assessed differently.
For instance, Aké and Kovačić have limited time left on their contracts, so the club is considering selling them to avoid losing them for free. New arrivals like Reijnders and Marmoush may be included in the list due to potential incompatibility with the coach’s new tactical approach.
Nathan Aké is among the most likely candidates to leave. The 31-year-old defender has attracted serious interest from clubs in England and abroad.
Although he delivered consistent performances and won multiple trophies during the Guardiola era, his age and frequent injuries have prompted the club’s leadership to reconsider his role.
Additionally, the future of academy graduate Rico Lewis is also under scrutiny, with several Premier League clubs expressing interest in signing him.
According to One.uz, Manchester City’s leadership carefully evaluates every offer and makes final decisions based on the club’s best interests.
