Belgium beat Senegal to reach the quarter-finals

During the round of 16 match of the World Cup, the game between the national teams of Belgium and Senegal turned into one of the most incredible comebacks in football history. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Until the 85th minute, the Belgian national team was losing by a two-goal margin, but in the final minutes, they showed true determination and eventually secured a 3-2 victory. This result allowed the Red Devils to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
This was reported by Goal.com. The first half of the match was dominated by the Senegal national team.
First, Ismail Sarr’s shot hit the crossbar and bounced back, but shortly after, Habib Diarra took advantage of a favorable situation to open the scoring. The Belgian national team, aside from a long-range effort by Maxim De Cuyper, failed to create any significant danger in front of the opponent’s goal during the first half.
The movements of the Belgian players appeared completely ineffective and disorganized for a long time. At the start of the second half, Belgium’s head coach Rudi Garcia brought on Romelu Lukaku to strengthen the attack, but this change did not immediately yield the expected result.
On the contrary, Ismail Sarr scored his second goal, beating Thibaut Courtois and extending the lead. As the situation worsened, the coach made an unexpected and desperate decision.
He substituted the team’s starters, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku. Although this decision caused surprise and protest among many, it ultimately helped shift the team’s overall spirit and contributed to securing the victory.
With four minutes remaining in the match, Romelu Lukaku converted Thomas Meunier’s assist into a goal, reducing the deficit. After a few more minutes of back-and-forth play, Yuri Tielemans equalized following an assist from Leandro Trossard.
These rapid events demoralized the Senegalese players. After the main time ended in a draw, both teams continued to act cautiously in extra time.
However, in the final moments of extra time, a foul on Yuri Tielemans was identified by the referees, and a penalty was awarded against Senegal. Yuri Tielemans did not miss from the eleven-meter mark and secured his team’s sensational victory.
This victory not only secured Belgium’s place in the next round but also demonstrated how strong the team spirit can be. Having overcome the defeat, the players will continue their journey in the next stage of the playoffs.
Senegal, despite dominating for much of the match, lost focus in the final minutes and were eliminated from the competition.
