Yuriy Pervak, a specialist who previously served as the general director of the Spartak football club in the former capital, expressed his views on the restrictions placed on the number of legionnaires in the Russian Premier League (RPL). This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the current period is a transitional phase, and teams are unable to show good results. Therefore, it is important to create opportunities for young Russian footballers.
Pervak supports further reducing the number of legionnaires and emphasized that he is in favor of changing the existing limit. Earlier, there were reports in the media that the leaders of the Russian Football Union and the Ministry of Sports were discussing the issue of reducing the number of legionnaires in RPL teams.
According to the proposed project, the number of legionnaires on the roster is planned to be reduced from 14 to 10, and in the starting lineup from 8 to 5. These changes are expected to open up more opportunities for local players and enhance the competitiveness of teams.
Additionally, special attention must be paid to the development of young players. Decisions in this regard will help strengthen the national level of football.
