Rui Koşta has announced his intention to participate in the presidential elections of Benfica. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He has been serving in this position as the interim president until now. The reason for this is that in July 2021, Luish Filipe Vieira was arrested on charges of tax evasion.
The election for the president of the Lisbon club will take place on October 25. Four other candidates have also officially registered for this position.
Additionally, according to the Portuguese publication A Bola, Vieira, who has faced issues in the past, may also participate in the elections. Last season, Benfica finished in second place in the Primeira Liga.
This indicates that the club is a strong competitor. The results of the elections will be crucial in determining the future direction of the club.
Each candidate will present their program and state their goals before the fans and clubs. The election process is expected to be conducted in a transparent and fair manner.
