The iPhone 18 will be faster and more efficient

Apple is planning to significantly increase the performance of its new generation iPhone 18 smartphones by introducing a new chip called A20, according to Pepelac.news. This chip will be manufactured by TSMC using 2-nanometer technology.

According to the latest information, the A20 chip operates 15% faster than the A19 chip, but the power consumption remains unchanged. This will increase both energy efficiency and processing speed.

TSMC will start accepting orders for chips using 2-nm technology from April 1, and Apple is expected to be one of the first customers to utilize this technology. Initially, the A20 chip was planned to be produced using 3-nm technology, but according to analyst Min-Chi Kuo and Economic News Daily sources, this plan has been changed.

Apple is also exploring the possibility of introducing silicon-carbon batteries, which will increase battery capacity without increasing the thickness of the device.

However, transitioning to 2-nm technology could raise the production cost for a single silicon wafer to $30,000. This increases the likelihood of a price increase for the iPhone 18 at the entry level. Nevertheless, due to the efficiency and energy-saving features of the A20 chip, new standards are expected to be set for the new iPhone 18 smartphones.
