Is your eye the key to crypto? What is known about World cryptocurrency?

OpenAI founder Sam Altman and his startup Tools for Humanity are implementing new technology — this time in the cryptocurrency field. They have launched the trading of a cryptocurrency called World (WLD) in the USA sent.

The most interesting part is that this cryptocurrency can be obtained not for money, but by scanning your eye. That is, if you scan your eye using a special Orb device, your humanity is confirmed through a unique hash code. This code is stored in your World ID profile and proves that you are a real person, not an artificial intelligence.

The initial name of this initiative was Worldcoin. According to the project's initiators, their goal is very simple and at the same time a direct response to a modern problem: as it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between humans and algorithms in the online world, a reliable authentication system is necessary.

The authors of the World project believe in the future of this system. They see it not only as a means of identifying individuals but also as a tool that enables mobile payments, identification, security, and use across various online platforms. In the near future, the possibility of converting WLD cryptocurrency into traditional money through a Visa debit card is expected to be created.

Today, Telegram, Discord, Shopify, and other major online platforms also provide the option for verification through World ID. This is particularly important in situations where it is necessary to distinguish humans from artificial intelligence.

Two types of devices are used for eye scanning:

  • Orb — a special device with multiple cameras and a metal casing;
  • Orb Mini — a gadget designed to be handheld, resembling a smartphone.

Both create a unique identifier called IrisCode, which is stored in a global database. This code helps you introduce yourself as a unique individual in cyberspace.

It is noted that this idea has sparked controversial opinions. However, over 26 million people have already registered for the project, of which 12 million have verified their identity.

The World project is primarily aimed at developing countries. The technology has been tested in these markets, where community interest is reported to be high.

Interesting, are you ready to scan your eye to get crypto?
