Google Play specifically marks battery-draining apps

Google Play Store has introduced a new and useful feature to identify apps that quickly drain battery power on users' phones. Zamin.uz reported this news.
This update will take effect starting March 1, 2026, and will be rolled out gradually in the future. The company plans to highlight such problematic apps with special markers.
When users visit the page of an app causing issues, they may see a clear warning message indicating that it runs excessively in the background and consumes more battery power than expected. This system operates based on special metrics called Android Vitals and automatically detects apps that keep the device unnecessarily awake.
The update does not merely provide warnings; apps causing excessive battery drain will be temporarily removed from Google Play Store's main recommended lists and other promotional sections. However, there are several important exceptions to these rules.
For instance, these restrictions do not apply to music players, navigation apps, and background processes for which users have granted special permission. Such measures aim to extend smartphone battery life and further improve the overall user experience.
This initiative enables every user to manage their device's resources more efficiently. As a result, people will be able to use their phones for longer periods without charging and prevent unnecessary energy consumption.
By considering user needs, Google has taken another step toward solving problems in the mobile world.
