The CIA is using artificial intelligence from Anthropic without restrictions

Due to the sharp decline in modern chip manufacturing, the U.S. National Security Agency’s Pentagon-imposed investigation has not stopped Anthropic from continuing to use its models, Zamin.uz reported.
Currently, there is no alternative in the process of handling classified information, as the power of existing data centers is insufficient to run the most advanced models on personal devices. This situation has drawn attention from industry experts and influential publications.
According to information from The New York Times, the White House approves allocating a staggering $9 billion to strengthen data centers specialized for intelligence and military agencies. These centers are planned to be equipped with NVIDIA Grace Blackwell superchips, which require a cooling system using special power supply and liquid coolant.
Until the necessary infrastructure is fully ready, the National Security Agency is forced to continue using Anthropic’s services despite official restrictions. Today, AI systems are considered essential for analyzing massive volumes of data, including synthetic satellite imagery, intercepted communications, and threats invisible to the human eye.
The chip shortage is regarded as a serious threat to national security. For this reason, the U.S. government has urgently redirected $800 million from other federal program budgets to purchase computing power.
The unique aspect of the situation is that, although Anthropic is considered a supply chain risk due to its ownership structure and foreign investments, it remains critically important and irreplaceable. The company’s Claude model is regarded as one of the most advanced tools for threat analysis.
For example, the Glasswing project developed by this company successfully identified over 10,000 critical vulnerabilities in specialized services within just one month. This issue affects not only the intelligence sector but the entire global technology market.
Major memory chip manufacturers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are allocating more of their resources to the AI direction than to consumer electronics. Anthropic’s revenue growing severalfold within a year and the expectation of its shares entering the market confirm its unique position.
At the same time, it remains both under official investigation and a critically important partner for government structures.
