Garfield AI suddenly replaced the lawyer and won

An important event in the history of British jurisprudence has taken place in the UK legal system, Zamin.uz reports.
The Garfield AI legal company announced that it achieved a court victory in a case prepared almost entirely by artificial intelligence. This system independently handled all complex preparatory work in a legal dispute and ultimately secured the claimant’s victory, becoming the first known case in the world where AI fully managed litigation.
The case involved Tamires Kamal Takidir, a personnel specialist, who sought to recover a debt of six thousand pounds sterling from her former employer. According to the claimant, approaching traditional lawyers was financially impractical, as legal fees could exceed the amount being pointless, as the cost of services could exceed the expected recovery.
Instead, she turned to Garfield AI, spending approximately four hundred pounds sterling on document preparation. What tasks did the artificial intelligence perform?
The system developed by Garfield AI took on large volumes of work typically performed by junior lawyers and legal assistants. The AI carried out the following processes: drafting claim forms and procedural materials, analyzing counterclaims from the opposing party, compiling and organizing the evidence base, and preparing four witness statements.
All documents for the three-hour hearing at the Wimbledon County Court in London were gathered precisely by artificial intelligence. Although the client’s interests in court were represented by lawyer Dominik Li, he specifically emphasized that the system prepared the work with exceptional accuracy and efficiency.
In the lawyer’s view, while live dialogue and oratory skills remain within the human domain, technical preparation is where AI excels. Filip Yang, one of the founders of Garfield AI, stressed that this ruling marks a breakthrough in expanding access to fair justice.
Every year, thousands of small businesses and independent professionals abandon attempts to enforce their rights due to the high cost of legal services. The new technology eliminates this barrier.
It is worth noting that Garfield AI obtained an official license in April 2025 from the UK Legal Services Board to regulate legal services. The platform is actually specialized in small civil disputes ranging from thirty to ten thousand pounds sterling.
Unlike simple chatbots, it is a professional digital lawyer trained on English legal norms and specific procedures. This success comes shortly after AI errors in large law firms undermined trust in the sector, and now helps restore it.
If such systems continue to prove their reliability, in the near future legal protection for small businesses and individuals is expected to become several times more affordable and accessible.
