NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card caught fire during operation
Unexpected incidents involving the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, one of the most powerful graphics cards on the market, continue to occur. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Recently, a user on the Reddit social network shared that their expensive video card suddenly stopped working. The process was accompanied by a loud crackling sound and smoke, sparking widespread discussion among tech enthusiasts.

Importantly, this failure is not related to the power connector issue seen in earlier models. According to reports, the incident occurred several minutes after the user launched a game on their PC.

A loud noise was heard from inside the computer case, smoke began to emerge, and the entire system shut down immediately. Upon disassembling and inspecting the components, it was found that the video card manufactured under the Zotac brand had suffered serious damage.

In the published photos, burn marks are visible not on the power connector, but on the part of the card that connects to the motherboard—specifically near the data transfer interface. According to preliminary expert assessments, such severe damage could be caused by microcracks that developed in the card’s substrate.

The issue lies in the fact that flagship graphics cards are distinguished by their large size and weight. Over time, the card’s own weight can cause it to sag, leading to invisible cracks in its internal structure.

This factor may result in a short circuit, ultimately causing the card to burn out completely. This incident serves as an important warning for users of modern, high-performance graphics chips.

Given the growing demand for such powerful systems in the Uzbek market, users should take precautionary measures. When installing heavy graphics cards, it is recommended to use special support brackets that keep the card in a stable position.

This not only protects the video card but also helps prevent deformation of the motherboard. So far, manufacturers have not issued any official statements regarding this issue.

Nevertheless, the incident shows that even the most expensive and advanced technologies can have weak points when subjected to physical stress. When building a PC, it is essential to consider not only technical performance but also the mechanical durability of components.
