A joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Nauru was signed in New York City.
It was noted that the document was signed on behalf of the governments of the two countries by Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and Nauru's Permanent Representative to the UN, Lara Erab Daniyel.
The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.
“An agreement was reached to activate bilateral relations to find mutually beneficial directions for cooperation in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields. The signing of the document was an important step in activating cooperation between Uzbekistan and foreign countries,” the statement said.
Thus, Nauru became the 159th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. Previously, Uzbekistan had established diplomatic relations with Suriname at the end of February.
For your information, Nauru is a country located on an island in the southwestern part of the Pacific Ocean. Its area is 21 square kilometers, and its population is 12,300.
