According to the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, fines for selling expired food products will be tripled. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This measure also applies to products without an indicated expiration date or manufacturing date. The Competition Committee has been tasked with submitting a draft law regulating this issue to the government within two months.
Currently, fines for individuals range from 3 to 10 base calculation units, amounting to 1.2 million to 4.2 million soums. For legal entities, the fine ranges from 7 to 10 base calculation units, reaching 2.8 million to 4.2 million soums.
Once the new regulation comes into force, the maximum fines will exceed 12.3 million soums. Additionally, starting from March 2026, the sale of expired products will be completely prohibited.
Such products will be monitored through a digital marking system, and the sale of expired products will be automatically blocked. Currently, the digital marking system in Uzbekistan covers 115.1 thousand types of products.
These changes are aimed at protecting consumer rights and strengthening quality control in the market. Source: Kursiv Uzbekistan.
