
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Olim Abdullayev, held a meeting with Radim Zak, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main topic of the dialogue was aimed at facilitating the visa application processes for Uzbek citizens traveling to European Union countries for work and strengthening cooperation in the field of migration. During the conversation, issues related to simplifying visa requirements and easing preparation procedures for citizens going to EU countries for employment were discussed.
Additionally, the issue of ensuring active participation of Uzbek citizens in central educational programs was raised. ICMPD expressed its readiness to assist in the rapid coordination of intergovernmental documents and to explore opportunities for expanding retraining programs that meet the demands of the European labor market.
One of the important outcomes of the meeting was the agreement to establish a permanent ICMPD office in Uzbekistan. This decision reflects the aspiration to develop long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and ICMPD.
During the meeting, Radim Zak emphasized his readiness to strengthen cooperation on developing mechanisms for the rehabilitation and reintegration of citizens returning from Sweden. For reference, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) was established in 1993 and is currently considered one of the leading international organizations promoting modern approaches in the field of migration.
