
During his official visit to Japan, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting with Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ryosei Akazawa, on December 19. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At this meeting, issues of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and implementing joint projects were discussed. The head of state emphasized that the volume of Japan's investments in Uzbekistan's economy is increasing significantly.
According to data, in recent years, the number of joint ventures has increased tenfold, and the total value of ongoing projects has exceeded 20 billion dollars. The parties paid special attention to further developing trade and investment relations and deepening cooperation in areas such as alternative energy, decarbonization, and industrial cooperation.
It was also noted that it is necessary to establish an intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation at the ministerial level. This commission was emphasized as important for the effective implementation of joint programs and projects.
In addition, an agreement was reached to develop a program of measures to strengthen business cooperation involving the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the ROTOBO association, which focuses on developing trade relations with CIS countries. This cooperation will serve to further develop economic ties between the two countries.
