
On December 20, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in the first summit of the "Central Asia + Japan" dialogue held in Tokyo. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At this summit, the President put forward a number of initiatives aimed at expanding cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Japan. In particular, he proposed holding meetings at the level of heads of state once every two years and expressed readiness to host one of the upcoming summits in Uzbekistan.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed developing the "Central Asia – Japan 2040" strategy. It was emphasized that this strategy should define the main directions of long-term cooperation and include specific projects contributing to economic and sustainable development in the region.
Additionally, the establishment of an investment fund for the development of regional infrastructure and industry, as well as the formation of a network of Japanese technoparks, was proposed. The President also paid special attention to digital development.
He proposed creating a "Central Asia – Japan" digital center that would unite projects in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, he stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of "green" energy, ecology, transport, and seismic safety.
In the humanitarian sphere, initiatives were put forward to develop education, launch special programs for youth, and expand cultural exchanges. At the conclusion of the summit, participants adopted the Tokyo Declaration.
