Life expectancy in Uzbekistan will reach 78 years by 2030

A comprehensive plan aimed at increasing life expectancy in Uzbekistan until 2030 has been approved. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This program is focused on improving public health and developing the healthcare system. According to the plan, the average life expectancy is expected to reach 75.5 years by 2026, 76 years by 2027, 76.8 years by 2028, and 77.5 years by 2029.
By 2030, the goal is to increase this indicator to 78 years. To achieve these objectives, funding allocated to the healthcare sector will be significantly increased.
In particular, by 2030, the funds allocated to this sector are planned to constitute 5 percent of the country's gross domestic product. Special attention will also be given to preventing serious issues such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and respiratory illnesses.
Specifically, tasks have been set to reduce premature mortality from cardiovascular diseases by 27 percent among people aged 30-69, decrease premature mortality from cancer by 5.2 percent, and fully treat patients with diabetes. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, the average life expectancy in Uzbekistan has been steadily increasing.
For example, this indicator was 66.4 years in 1991 and reached 74.7 years in 2023. By 2024, this figure is expected to reach 75.1 years.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that in recent years, funding for the healthcare sector has increased sixfold. As a result, public health has improved and life expectancy has lengthened.
These results are considered the outcome of efforts to develop the healthcare system and improve the quality of life of the population in the country.
