Propan price increase is related to import share

The Competition Committee has issued an official statement regarding the increase in the price of liquefied gas — propane in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Committee, price changes are mainly related to imported products. Recently, prices in exchange trades have been formed with an increasing share of imported propane.
In the first half of 2025, 358 thousand tons of liquefied gas were put up for sale through the exchange. Of this volume, 61 percent belonged to local products, and 39 percent to imported gas.
However, since August, a sharp decrease in the share of locally supplied gas to the domestic market has been observed. By December 2025, the share of local propane dropped to 35 percent, and in January 2026, it fell to only 10 percent.
This situation is noted to be related to the allocation of local gas to the population and social facilities. The Committee stated that the price of local propane has remained almost unchanged.
While the price per ton of local gas has not exceeded 7 million soums, the price of imported propane has currently risen to 9–9.5 million soums. This indicates an increase of about 20 percent compared to December.
Additionally, the Competition Committee continues to monitor retail prices at fuel stations constantly. The Committee reminded that unfounded information spread on social networks could negatively affect market balance and recommended not to trust such reports.
The increase in propane prices is having a significant impact on the market. It is important to refer to reliable sources to stay informed about possible future changes.
