Uzbekistan attracts tourists from Southeast Asia

Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of tourists coming from Malaysia and Indonesia to up to 100,000 in 2026–2027. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This goal will be achieved within the framework of the "Umra Plus" program. Information about this program was provided by kursiv.uz.
According to the plan, tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia will have the opportunity to travel to the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. To attract them, events are planned to be held during religious holidays such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Additionally, advertising campaigns such as "Following Imam Bukhari" and "Spend Ramadan in Uzbekistan" will be organized. Tour operators bringing tourists will receive a subsidy of 100 dollars per guest.
Moreover, during off-season periods – from November 20 to February 20 and in July – discounts will be offered for visiting historical sites, staying in hotels, and dining services. The plan includes attracting up to 10 aircraft and opening new air routes.
In particular, flights are planned to be launched on the Kuala Lumpur – Samarkand, Kuala Lumpur – Bukhara – Jeddah, Jakarta – Samarkand – Jeddah, and Jakarta – Bukhara – Jeddah routes.
