Kyrgyzstan returned 21 tons of watermelons sent from Uzbekistan

On May 28, a large volume of agricultural products was returned from Uzbekistan to the Kyrgyz Republic, Zamin.uz reported.
During phytosanitary control measures carried out at the Friendship border crossing point, inspectors stopped a vehicle loaded with 21 tons of watermelons and conducted the necessary inspection. This was reported by the official information source of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of the inspection, it was found that the packaging of these products, which are under quarantine control, lacked the mandatory marking and labels. According to the current regulations, exported products must be provided with special marking.
This situation was assessed as a serious violation of the phytosanitary requirements established within the Eurasian Economic Union. Therefore, entry of this cargo into the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic was not permitted.
In accordance with the requirements of the current legislation, the 21 tons of watermelon product were immediately returned to Uzbekistan. As emphasized by the official authorities, such measures are carried out to ensure the phytosanitary safety of the country, protect the domestic market, and prevent the entry of various harmful objects.
This incident once again demonstrated to exporting entrepreneurs how important it is to strictly comply with international trade rules. When exporting products, not only the quality but also the correctness of the documents and compliance with mandatory packaging requirements play a key role.
Otherwise, entrepreneurs may suffer not only time but also significant material losses. Currently, explanatory work is being carried out by the relevant specialists to prevent the recurrence of such situations.
