Israel has launched airstrikes on southern Lebanon

Israeli military air forces carried out extensive airstrikes on southern Lebanon. The attacks are believed to primarily target military sites of the Hezbollah movement.
Over 20 airstrikes
According to Al Manar television, Israeli fighter jets conducted around 20 airstrikes near eight populated areas in southern Lebanon. This area mainly contains sites belonging to Hezbollah, which have been a constant source of conflict with Israel.
According to Al Jazeera, Israel launched 15 airstrikes within 30 minutes and fired approximately 20-25 rockets. After the attacks, the Lebanese side did not provide specific information about casualties and damages.
Attacks continue despite the agreement between Israel and Hezbollah
On November 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement came into effect between Israel and the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. In January 2025, the parties agreed to extend it until February 18. However, Israeli forces continue their attacks despite this agreement.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israeli army, in coordination with the US, will remain in the buffer zone along the Lebanon border for an "indefinite period."
“There is a buffer zone along the border with Lebanon. We have received permission from the United States, we provided them with a map, and we will remain there for an indefinite period,” said the Israeli minister.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are escalating again. Although the ceasefire agreement is in effect, the Israeli army continues to carry out airstrikes on southern Lebanon. This could further deteriorate relations between Israel and Lebanon in the near future.
It remains unclear how the Hezbollah movement will respond to these attacks. However, military analysts emphasize that this situation could intensify the conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
