Shooting continues at the border of Thailand and Cambodia
Despite a new peace agreement aimed at stopping the clashes that have erupted at the border of Thailand and Cambodia, the Thai government is accusing Cambodia of deliberately violating it. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Both countries reached a peace agreement on Monday to end five days of military confrontations. As a result of these clashes, at least 33 people have been killed and thousands have been evacuated to safe areas.

Although the Thai military announced that it had ceased fire at midnight on Monday, reports indicate that shooting continued in various areas by Cambodia until the morning. However, the Cambodian Ministry of Defense emphasized in a statement to France's AFP agency that there had been no armed clashes since the announcement of peace.

The border dispute between these two neighboring countries located in Southeast Asia had escalated again in May. At that time, one Cambodian soldier was killed, and subsequently, Thai soldiers were injured due to the explosion of a mine hidden in the ground.

These events have brought relations between the parties to the lowest level in the last decade. On Monday, negotiations took place in Malaysia between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Fumtham Vechayachay.

The meeting was organized with the mediation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Hun Manet assessed the peace as a very good outcome.

For a long time, Thailand, which has been superior in terms of weapons and technology, initially showed little interest in negotiations, but the threat from U.S. President Donald Trump to halt trade tariff negotiations forced Bangkok to agree to peace.
