White House: Trump put Zelensky in his place
According to American officials, Trump is the main negotiator

US President Donald Trump clearly explained to Vladimir Zelensky that Washington is striving for a long-term peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Karolyn Livett in an interview with Fox News.

According to her, the American leader openly expressed his position during a conversation with the Ukrainian president.

Livett emphasized: “Trump explained to Zelensky that the US is seriously committed to signing a long-term peace agreement. We are very pleased with the negotiations held with the Ukrainian side today and hope that the agreements reached will be solid.”

Livett also noted that there is currently no information on how Moscow has reacted to the issues discussed in the negotiations.

She stated that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the president's national security advisor Mike Waltz are actively working on this matter.

“The president is fully engaged in the process. He received updated information on the developments in Saudi Arabia throughout the day,” added the official representative.

The negotiations between US and Ukrainian representatives took place in Jeddah and lasted approximately seven hours. This was the first high-level meeting between representatives of the two countries following the sharp dispute that arose between Zelensky and Trump at the end of February.

The New York Times reported, citing a source in the Ukrainian delegation, that prior to these negotiations, representatives from France and the United Kingdom had provided guidance to Kyiv on cooperation with the US.

The meeting took place at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Jeddah. From the Ukrainian side, the head of the presidential administration Andrey Yermak, his deputy Pavel Palisa, Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov participated.

Although Vladimir Zelensky visited Saudi Arabia, he did not participate in the negotiations.
