The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a new law that expands the powers of the country's security service and increases the number of employees. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He announced this through a video address on his Telegram channel. The law aims to strengthen the SBU, effectively carry out combat missions, and further ensure the country's security.
According to the new law, the number of employees in the Special Operations Center, namely the "Alpha" unit, will be significantly increased. The President emphasized that this unit is composed of the most qualified fighters, and their capabilities will be fully realized.
During a military situation, it is stipulated that at least ten thousand people will work in the SSO. In peacetime, the number of SBU employees will reach 37 thousand, and in special circumstances, it will increase to 41 thousand.
In a military situation, these figures will be adjusted according to the country's mobilization plans. Previously, there were 27 thousand employees in the SBU during peacetime and 31 thousand in special circumstances.
According to Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Committee of the Supreme Rada, there are currently several thousand employees serving in the "Alpha" unit, and under the new law, their number is expected to increase two or threefold. Experts believe that this law will significantly enhance Ukraine's security capabilities and strengthen the country's ability to combat internal and external threats.
The practical results of the law will become clearer in the coming months. These reforms will usher in a new phase in the country's security system and create a foundation for systemic changes.
