Thousands of people participated in a demonstration called "March for Humanity" along the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sunday to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This demonstration was only authorized by the High Court of Australia a day earlier and was regarded by many as a historic decision. Despite initial security concerns from the police, the court allowed the demonstration to take place and agreed to temporarily close the bridge to traffic.
Politicians and notable figures participated in the demonstration, including WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, federal MP Ed Husic, and former New South Wales Premier Bob Carr. Participants chanted slogans such as "Save Gaza" and "Peace is needed now."
The organization "Palestine Action Group," which organized the demonstration, stated that this march was held to draw attention to the dire situation in Gaza. Although the group applied for permission, the police initially denied it, but the High Court's decision deemed the demonstration legal.
Pressure is mounting in Australia regarding the official recognition of the State of Palestine. This process is influenced by the upcoming UN General Assembly session, where countries like France, Canada, and the United Kingdom plan to conditionally recognize Palestine.
This situation is also contributing to the political climate in the region and increasing the international community's attention to the Palestinian issue.
