A significant event has occurred in Ukraine in the fight against corruption. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The High Anti-Corruption Court has decided to place the former head of the Luhansk regional state administration, Sergey Gayday, in custody for two months. Following this decision, various discussions began among the public and legal experts.
According to the court ruling, Sergey Gayday may be released on bail of 10 million hryvnias, which is approximately 2.1 million euros. However, lawyers plan to appeal the precautionary measure, emphasizing that this amount does not correspond to his official income.
Sergey Gayday was born in 1975 in the Luhansk region. He studied in the city of Khmelnytskyi and later worked in Kyiv.
He headed the Luhansk regional state administration from 2019 to 2023 and was appointed as the head of the Mukachevo district in the Transcarpathian region in March 2024. According to recent information, he was arrested on August 2 by officers of the National Bureau for Combating Corruption and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
Gayday is suspected of participating in a corruption scheme related to the purchase of aircraft without pilots and radio-electronic warfare equipment at inflated prices. On August 3, he was dismissed from his position as head of the Mukachevo administration.
Sergey Gayday considers himself innocent and made a statement to the media regarding this. According to him, he does not intend to flee anywhere and expressed his readiness to go to the front once all matters are resolved.
This event has once again prompted discussions about transparency and accountability in state governance in Ukraine. Future court proceedings and updates on Sergey Gayday's case will be closely monitored.
The fight against corruption remains an important direction in Ukrainian society, and such cases are evaluated as practical results of reforms.
