The Komi Republic, located in the north of Russia and approximately two thousand kilometers away from the Ukrainian border, has been attacked by Ukrainian drones for the first time. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This incident took place in the city of Ukhta, which is one of the country's strategically important industrial centers. A warning about the threat of a drone attack was issued in Ukhta according to local time.
According to information spread on the Telegram network, the drones were directed towards an oil processing plant near the city. The news from the "Den" information program emphasized that a drone fell at the oil processing complex, but no fire occurred.
After the incident, the "Yarmarka" shopping complex in the city center and the nearby oil processing plant were quickly evacuated. The Supernova+ Telegram channel from the Ukrainian side reported that the "Lukoil-Uhtaneftepererabotka" plant was the main target of the attack.
Residents of the city of Ukhta reported that there were disruptions in mobile internet connectivity during the incident, and citizens of the city of Syktyvkar also complained about similar problems. While the Russian air defense system was activated, the reception and dispatch of aircraft at Ukhta airport were temporarily halted.
This was reported by Rosaviatsiya representative Artyom Korenyako. According to the acting head of the Komi Republic, Rostislav Goldshteyn, no one was injured as a result of the drone crash.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time Ukrainian drones have targeted the territory of the Komi Republic since the large-scale war began. This situation indicates the expanding geography of the battlefield and that distant regions are also potentially at risk.
